I used to think that the idea of an Aliens Vs. Predator movie was really cool. But then I saw the Paul W. S. Anderson directed Aliens Vs. Predator and the movie turned out to be, much to my amazement, boring. Now, I’m sure that is in large part Anderson’s fault, but I can’t help but to be much less excited about the sequel.
And the trailer didn’t get me any more excited. Sure, it looks like it might be better than the first. At least it should have more violence to keep the audience from falling asleep. But that is like saying sawdust tastes better than toilet paper, not exactly high praise. Nothing about the trailer say “yes, they got it, they know how to pull it off.”
I’m still finding it hard to believe, but the truth is that Transformers, Michael Bay’s Transformers, is looking really, really good. And the more we see, the better it seems.
Right now, Pirates 3 is still my most anticipated film of the summer. But I think this just moved up to a surprisingly close number two.
Since having silly hair in a movie worked so well for Tom Hanks, I guess Nic figured it couldn’t hurt to try it. Let’s see how that turn out.
Honestly, the trailer makes the movie seem a lot more interesting than I expected. An action movie with a twist. I still don’t think this movie will be good, based on all the information we have about it, but the trailer does make me think there is an alternative future in which it could be good.
Surprisingly enough, I have never read any of Neil Gaiman’s books. And I’m not completely sure I have ever read a comic he wrote.
This is surprising because he seems like that kind of author who I would love, and because I have known about him and about his reputation since I was about ten years old. And yet, I never got around to reading hist stuff. So I guess watching Stardust will likely be my first exposure to Gaiman’s work.
The trailer makes the film look interesting. Nice visuals, a creative fantasy storyline, combining classic elements with a couple of new twists, and, hopefully, more sense of humor than most films in the genre. And yet, I’m not completely sold on it.
This kind of material could make for a Pirates style fun fantasy adventure. But a couple of scenes in the trailer make me think the humor might not work completely and that the story of the film just might be to focused too much on the classic fight the bad witch and not enough in the aforementioned twists. Also, the leading man, Charlie Cox, looks utterly uncharismatic. Perhaps I’ll warm up to him, but he is definitely no Johnny Depp.
We’ll see if my worries have any foundation in the actual film in August, when the it opens.
Although I had heard the name “The Last Mimzy” before, I don’t think I knew anything about this movie before watching the trailer. After watching the trailer I have the following impressions:
It Looks good. And by that I mean it literally looks good, interesting photography and effects.
This might be aimed at people younger than myself, not sure I would be able to enjoy it.
On the other hand my young cousin might be very interested.
This is like a kids version of 4400, isn’t it?
Why is it the lastMimzy?
Maybe this is one of those films that pleases the entire family. I will keep an eye on the reviews. But right now it doesn’t look like this one is for “old” people like me.
