I think that the big question with Funny Games is whether it is actually worth watching the remake instead of just renting the original, considering that they both share the same director. But I have little doubt that this will make fr a very good, if somewhat disturbing, film.

Juno Trailer
The word coming out of Toronto is that Juno is excellent. Having just watched the trailer, I totally believe it. Seems like the type of off-beat family comedy that can be truly funny and still have a heart.
Consider me sold.

Youth Without Youth Trailer
I’m cautiously excited about Youth Without Youth. Coppola is undoubtedly one of the greats, but he hasn’t worked in a long time and it’s been a while since he really hit one off the park. So I’m hoping that it will be a return to form, but I’m not getting my hopes up too much before I see some truly great reviews.
The trailer itself simply doesn’t show enough to allow for any kind of opinion. I love getting a taste of the movie, but I’ll need a lot more in order to get more or less excited.

Grace is Gone Trailer
(Quicktime Version)
Man, this looks like a sad movie. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Sad movies, much like happy movies, came in two types: good or bad.
This trailer isn’t enough for me to make my mind about which type Grace is Gone is. But the reviews have generally been positive, so I’m hopeful.

Reservation Road Trailer
I’m going to guess I’m not the only one who is reminded of 21 Grams by watching this trailer. I think Reservation Road will be a very different from 21 Grams. For starters it won’t jump around in time. But the similarities in the storyline and in the tone a certainly there.
I really do love these heavy dramas. reservation Road doesn’t strike me as being something that is likely to be among the best of its kind, but I’m sure I’ll eat it up anyway.

Michael Clayton Trailer
(Quicktime Version)
‘ve come to trust George Clooney’s choice of roles. Although I haven’t loved all of his recent movies, they are always interesting enough to be worth watching.
This one looks a lot like some kind of mix between The Insider and The Firm. Although I don’t expect it to neither as deep as the former nor as entertaining as the latter, it should still make for a worthwhile movie.

Dan in Real Life Trailer
(Quicktime Version)
At this point I’m going to go see Steve Carell in any movie that doesn’t seem completely stupid. And yes, that does mean I didn’t go see Evan Almighty.
To be quite honest, this isn’t the most exciting trailer. Not that many laughs and the more dramatic parts fell a little flat. But the idea of seeing Carell in another part that mixes drama and comedy is by itself exciting, so I will remain very hopeful for now.

The Kite Runner Trailer
I’m quite interested in this movie, and the trailer generally did a good job of keeping me that way. But the voice over and music is sooooo over the top and ponderous, it almost seems like a parody of some sorts. Really weird.
But yeah, looks like a fascinating story.

Rendition Trailer
(Quicktime Version)
Gavin Hood, who directed Rendition, has been announced as the director of Wolverine. I’m not sure exactly what they saw in this film that made they think “you know, this guy would be a great director for a super-hero movie.” Seems like a bold choice, which actually makes me quite happy.
As for this trailer, well, the movie looks like it should at the very least be interesting. And it could turn out to be a lot more than that.

The Darjeeling Limited Trailer
(Quicktime Version)
This looks odd, and endearing, and funny, but not in a laugh out loud way. Which is exactly what I expect a Wes Anderson film to be like.
This film isn’t going to be everybody’s cup of tea, but I think it will be great for those of us who do loved some of Anderson’s previous movies.
