The new Simpsons Movie trailer is here, and it looks awesome. It has the two things I wanted to see: lots o laughs and hints of a story with a seemingly big scope. Epic even.
Now, I love The Simpsons and have been sold on this movie since it was announced, so take my enthusiasm with a grain of salt. But if spider-pig doesn’t make you laugh hard, you are dead in the inside.
The teaser shows very little from the actual movie, so it’s hard to say much about it. But from everything that I have seen and read this is looking like a pretty bold project. Let’s hope it works.
Ok, how awesome is this movie going to be? Well, perhaps not awesome enough to get me to see it in theaters, but definitely awesome.
The problem with the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie, for me, is that it looks like something that would be just as good on DVD. And I feel a little weird about paying good theater money to see a film with such obviously poor production values. Although I did pay to see the South Park movie in a big screen.
Still, I really think this film will be great. And I will see it, even if not in theaters.
I would just like to take this moment to say that there are other cute animals besides Penguins. No, really. Cats, dogs, bears, beavers, >ornithorhynchus, all cute. You people should look into that.
That said, I like this trailer. Beautiful animation, several fun scenes, immediately likable characters, pretty much all a trailer for this kinds of film should have. Consider me interested.
This trailer actually makes Meet The Robinsons seem funny, if not much else. Not enough to get me excited about seeing it, but enough to get me to go to the movie if my younger cousins ask me to take them.
I don’t see as much animation as I used to. And it is harder and harder for me to really want to 3D animated movies. I’m sure that In part that’s because I’m getting older. But I think it is also in part because after a few years when we were getting only a couple of 3D animated films a year, we now get a bunch of them. And the overall quality suffered, a lot, with most films adding nothing really exciting either visually or in terms of the story. Maybe Ratatouille be a return to form for Pixar? And maybe it will get me excited about animation again? Maybe.
What can I say? It’s Pixar. It looks very good. Any surprises?
I guess I should say that this movie looks more interesting to me than Cars, which never really grabbed my interest. On the other hand, I don’t think it has much chance of reaching the greatness of the best Pixar movies, like Toy Story. The setting and the use of humans as many of the main characters limits the kinds of different elements that can be used in the movie, forcing it to be a little more grounded in reality. And I don’t think the story will have the same emotional punch that, say, Finding Nemo had.
But still, probably a solid animation on par with other non-best Pixar movies, which is already very, very good.
I’m so mad at myself for actually wanting to watch this. I know I shouldn’t, but give me one silly trailer and a couple of positive reviews and all of the sudden I’m ten years old again.
And I don’t even think the trailer is that good! Most of the jokes fall flat, the enemies don’t look scary, the story doesn’t seem that interesting and we don’t really get to bond with any of the main characters for more than a second. Ok, we do get the feel for Michelangelo a bit, he is the only thing memorable from the trailer, actually. But We don’t even see Splinter say anything!
And yet, I’ll probably find a way to see this. At some place and time when no one I know has a chance of seeing me, of course. But I will.
