I’m a little torn about this project. On one hand, I’m finding very hard not to think of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory when I see anything from this film. On the other hand, the idea of a magical toy store is very interesting and could be turned into a movie filled with crazy and funny scenes. And the movie has Dustin Hoffman, Natalie Portman AND Jason Bateman. That’s quite a cast.
The trailer itself left me cold. The jokes didn’t really work, it failed to truly convey a sense of wonder surrounding the store and it seemed like it might be aimed just at kids. Which would be a shame, since this is the kind of project that could work with all ages, if done well.
