This looks a lot like a a non-supernatural version of The Prophecy, doesn’t it? I think that is a good thing, although other people might disagree.

The trailer has a bit of a pacing problem, especially towards the end. But it is creepy enough, and it does tell us what the movie is about pretty clearly. So I guess it’s not bad. Definitely got me more interested in the film.

I’m a bit of a sucker for these kinds of character pieces that mostly show a few people talking and interacting. They almost never turn out to be among the best films of the year, but they are often engaging and interesting, and they can make me think a little about the ways I myself interact with other people. Add to that the possibility of seeing Steve Buscemi acting and you have enough to get me really interested.

Now, that is a great teaser trailer. Exciting visuals which don’t really mean anything, but keep you distracted, combined with a voice over that explains the story succinctly and in a way that makes it sound exciting. Still think the film is going to be bad, but I love this trailer.

This is classical Michael Moore. Irreverent and controversial, attacking politicians and big companies. Will this get him any new viewers? Probably not. But considering how well Fahrenheit 9/11 did, he probably doesn’t need any.

I’m not sure I buy the pairing of Tea Leoni and Ben Kingsley. But otherwise this seems like a fine movie. Interesting premise, a couple of laugh and a couple of thrills. Of course, this is exactly the kind o film that, if executed poorly, can be very silly and unbelievable. But I’m an optimist, so I’m going to guess the this one works.

I know that any trailer for a fantasy movie will, for a good time, try to make people think about The Lord of the Rings. But this one was a bit too on the nose, wasn’t it?

Beyond that, the trailer didn’t really impress me with either it’s visuals or with it’s story. I’m still keeping an open mind, but right now I’m a little less sure about this movie than I was before I saw the trailer.

I dislike this trailer. Which is not to say that I think I will dislike the movie, I mostly just dislike how the trailer was assembled, the over use of voice over and the excessive effort to make this look like a very typical biography about a man fighting power. Maybe the movie is like that, but I get the feeling it isn’t.

There was a point in this trailer where I laughed out loud. Considering that this is a very serious trailer that is not a good thing.

The Rambo series was always a little silly. But if the trailer is any indication, this latest installment takes it way over the top. And Stallone looks way too old for the part.The only nice thing I can say about it is that it seems like they take the Rambo character back to his roots as an out of control, deeply disturbed Vietnam vet. But that is not going to be nearly enough to make this a watchable film.

I’m still finding it hard to believe, but the truth is that Transformers, Michael Bay’s Transformers, is looking really, really good. And the more we see, the better it seems.

Right now, Pirates 3 is still my most anticipated film of the summer. But I think this just moved up to a surprisingly close number two.

Any movie that pits Jet Li against Jason Statham is going to have a certain cool factor. But every English language Jet Li movie so far left me with the feeling that what I saw was a copy of a better movie. Which probably also starred Jet Li.

This could turn out to be the exception, but I’m not holding my breath.
