Reign Over Me Trailer
I’m pretty excited about his one. That is in great part due to me really liking writer/director Mike Binder’s The Upside of Anger. Reign Over Me seems to be playing on similar grounds. It also deals with loss of family. And it mixes both dramatic and comedic elements in what I imagine will end up being an emotional, but ultimately lighthearted and uplifting drama. I like this kind of movie. I wish more good films were made in this vein.
I’m also curious to see Sandler tackle a different part. I don’t think the guy will ever be a great character actor. Heck, I don’t even think he will ever be as good an actor as Jim Carrey. But as Punch-Drunk Love showed, he can be good in a drama, if used well. And I have the impression he was used well in this one. We’ll soon see if I’m right about that.
